Amit Gambhir, MIS

With my background in engineering and management, along with my experience in product management and marketing, I had a true know-how and sense of business. However, I wanted more knowledge in the area of IT in order to make myself more versatile and to excel in my career.

Fairfax University of America provided me with education, resources, cultural experiences, and exposure to great minds from all around the world. With the flexibility to take courses in the summer and online, I’ll be finishing my master’s degree in 15 months so I can go back and work toward my goals. I am extremely thankful for all the opportunities provided to me at FXUA.

Without a doubt, one of FXUA’s greatest assets is its diversity in student body and in faculty. I have been exposed to students from varied backgrounds. Some students are professionals seeking to advance their knowledge through FXUA’s TESOL program, other students are new to graduate work. However, one common thread among FXUA’s TESOL students is their desire to become experts in this field. You can sense their passion for this discipline (even online!). It is wonderful to see the types of teachers FXUA is leading into the classroom.

I have thoroughly enjoyed designing and facilitating courses in FXUA’s online TESOL program. As faculty, we are encouraged to use various teaching methods and tools to deliver and facilitate students’ knowledge. It is both challenging and empowering to know that what is expected from you is the best possible learning environment students can receive. It forces me to work harder to build engaging, interactive, content that is based on the important research and concepts of our field.

Although I teach online courses and live in Florida, I still feel a connection to my students, my peers, and to FXUA. There is something special about FXUA, a sense of being a part of something important that resonates even at a distance. I consider myself fortunate to be a part of the FXUA TESOL program as I have learned from my students more than they know.

After 3 years of thinking about it, I finally made up my mind: I wanted to go on with my studies even though I had finished my degree 14 years ago. What took me so long? Well… Apart from my full time job, my husband, my two kids (8 and 6)… Simple: I was afraid. Afraid of not being able to finish what I began. I started looking for what I wanted to study and I could only find it at Fairfax University of America. No other country, no other state, no other university had exactly what I wanted. Some others have a Masters in TESOL, but the courses in this program are really enriching. Trust me,

I´ve been teaching English as a Foreign Language for 14 years so I know what I’m talking about! Studying online in an American university while living in Spain was really challenging for me, but everybody at FXUA made it so easy and they really helped me throughout the whole application process. My biggest concern was money. FXUA is one of the most affordable universities I found, but compared to Spanish ones it was still out of my reach. They told me I could apply for the Career Online Scholarship and I didn´t give it much credit, to be honest, but I tried anyway. To my surprise they replied in a few weeks saying I had been awarded a scholarship! I´m about to finish my second course of the Masters and I´m so glad I decided to start this adventure. It makes me happy to see I can pursue my dreams without taking time from my family or work. With a little organization and the help of my professors, everything is turning out perfect! I´m so motivated and engaged in the course now that there´s no doubt the Masters is bringing out the best in me.

I am truly pleased to study here at FXUA. It is an undoubtedly unique place that opens students’ minds no matter to new ways of life and thinking. A diverse student body, diverse faculty and staff together make you view things under many different angles you may not even consider otherwise! Along with your regular class content, you learn about new cultures and religions. You have a chance to learn more about people and about yourself. You gain life-time friends. You learn and experience many things here for the first time in your life. FXUA online classes were a part of these firsts for me. When I was applying to FXUA, I had so many questions! The admissions department and staff were wonderful – they patiently answered all of them and guided me through the application process. As a student, I continued to benefit from the 24 hour support, through live chat, phone and email.

. As a student staff member, I am now happy to provide the same support to others applying to FXUA Online! I love my university, and I am happy to share what I know with other students. If you have any questions, please call, e-mail or chat with us!

Ana Maylin Dy: I can study at my own pace

“Ana Maylin Dy: I can study at my own pace”
Having studied both online and on-campus courses, I can say that FXUA Online makes studying convenient and affordable. You can study anytime and anywhere. Through online courses, you can work and do your usual daily activities and study during your free time. Furthermore, the tuition rate is cheaper than the on-campus tuition, and you do not have to worry about travel or on-campus expenses. Personally, I found studying for an online course easier because I can use the time I’m saving by not traveling to school to study at my own pace.

The independence also forced me to be honest with myself in terms of whether I understood something. If something didn’t make sense to me, I just read the lesson again, or asked the instructor, who was very helpful, friendly and quick to respond. There are similarities and differences between the online and on-campus courses. It is similar since you can always interact with your teacher and classmates and still be learning the same topics and materials. But it is different because you decide when to study and do your requirements. I would recommend taking online courses, especially to those with tight schedules or from faraway places.

“FXUA is a vibrant community of diverse students!”
I was very interested in teaching at FXUA because of the very diverse international student body. I have designed and taught 8 courses online for FXUA in both the schools of Business and SCIS.  FXUA has allowed me to be exposed to more academic diversity than I ever imagined.

Being able to teach in both the School of Business and SCIS has broadened my own academic perspectives; having taught students from more than 25 different countries has been both professionally rewarding and extremely educational to me personally as every student brings a new cultural perspective.  Where else can you have a classroom full of students from diverse locations like Mongolia, Thailand, Brazil, Germany, Jordan and the U.S. ….all at the same time?

My best memory is attending graduation this last April.  I finally got to meet many of my students face to face, and more importantly, see the joy in their faces as they received their diplomas!  That is very rewarding for a professor.  I feel that FXUA is a vibrant community of international students who are extremely positive, optimistic and determined to succeed in the modern business world while also working to break down cultural barriers and make the world a better place!  I promise to deliver timely and relevant education and to create an environment where students are free to present diverse view points while also maintaining high standards for academic rigor that will prepare students to succeed and thrive as working professionals immediately upon graduation. I see FXUA growing, becoming one of the great international universities of the world.  In the long term, FXUA will be known for producing great leaders of character who will work to make the world a better place for all countries and nationalities.

I completed my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering in India. I came to realize that organization and planning enables anyone to achieve their desired outcome. This thought motivated me to gain a master’s degree in Business Administration. I worked as a Quality Analyst for a year and recognized that to keep up with emerging trends I needed to study information technology. I created a list of goals when I decided to pursue my master’s degree in the US. I started searching for the universities on the internet and found that FXUA is a place where I can gain knowledge and exposure to achieve my goals.

The most interesting thing about FXUA is its diversified culture that can be seen in every aspect of the campus. FXUA has students and professors from all over the world and provided a place where I received the chance to interact with people in a diversified working environment. These interactions enabled me to know how people from other countries think, their work style, and how they learn new techniques. Because of my experiences at FXUA, I see myself as a better person with positive attitude.

FXUA not only encourages its students in their academics but also in various extra-curricular activities which enables you to grow. By studying at FXUA and living in America my perception towards life has changed in a very positive way.

While at FXUA I have received the chance to work as Graduate Teaching Assistant and was awarded a campus employment scholarship.  I am an active member of the IT club at FXUA. I am also on the Dean’s list.

I recommend FXUA to students all over the world who are genuinely willing to have a career in Information Technology field because FXUA helps the students in each step that are required to reach their goals successfully.

I believe that it is essential for everyone to learn things practically rather sticking only to theories in textbooks. The professors at FXUA help students understand the importance of practical learning and encourage students to do things practically. The academic curriculum provides students with various specializations in their related fields.

Attitude and hard work will make you victorious in your pursuit of achieving and I strongly believe that I have gained knowledge, motivation, and exposure from my degree at FXUA.

Learning is a continuous process and I want to dedicate my understanding to explore new trends in the Information Technology and excel in this field by sharing my knowledge all over the world.

My friend who graduated from FXUA recommended the university to me. After I familiarized myself with the university through its website; I was interested in the MBA program in Global Logistics as it was related to my job at the time. I was a supply chain engineer in the Global Supply Chain and Logistics Department at General Motors Uzbekistan.

I earned my master’s degree in international economic relations in Tashkent, the capitol of Uzbekistan. After the graduation, I started working in the foreign trade system for the government. While participating in foreign trade operations, I became interested in international logistics. This interest took me to the Global Supply Chain and Logistics team of a multinational company, General Motors Uzbekistan. During my time working at GM Uzbekistan, I participated in many local and international projects for the company and attended training programs at the production plants in South Korea, India, China, Poland, Germany, and the U.S. I chose to pursue an MBA in Global Logistics at FXUA to strength my knowledge in international logistics business.

FXUA gave me the opportunity to get work experience on campus as a student staff member. I participated in a special project and was accepted into the marketing department as an international marketing assistant. I would like to express my appreciation to Dr. Bahceci and Ms. Serrano for this opportunity. I would also like the staff and team of FXUA; they are all friendly and kind people. There are a lot of student clubs at FXUA and I serve as the president of the Navruz Club; which represents the culture of Central Asian people. This year we organized a special Navruz holiday at FXUA.

Our distinguished professors always help students anytime they need assistance, and most have experience from government to multinational companies. They encourage students, not just to listen during the class, but to act in parallel with the professor; resulting in engaging debates and discussions during classes. Our professors motivate us to pursue our professional goals and career achievements.

There are many reasons why students should choose FXUA. First, is the location of the campus. It is located in the DC metro area and it offers the chance to experience life at the United States’ capitol. FXUA offers a truly diverse and international experience; with a large number of students representing different cultures and countries. Students are able to easily adapt to local life while surrounded by diverse faculty and staff; and have the opportunity to make friends from different parts of the world.

Secondly, is the affordable high-quality education. FXUA has current, high demanding academic programs for undergraduate, graduate, certificate, and ESL courses for English learners. These programs are offered with affordable fees and flexible payment plans. FXUA offers several scholarships for students which are awarded on a variety of merits: academic excellence, career growth, special achievements, and many others. Recently, they launched a regional scholarship for prospective students which cover partial to full tuition fees.

After graduation, I will return to my previous job in the Global Supply Chain and Logistics team at General Motors Uzbekistan. I believe my degree from FXUA helps me to further career. It will assist me to better understand the American business system and global business standards in my job which is part of a multinational American company.

I made a lot of friends at FXUA from many countries, and I believe they will be great contacts in my professional and personal life. Today, the economy of Uzbekistan is increasing dramatically and integrating into world trade. We still face many problems with global logistics; as the country is landlocked and does not have access to maritime. But, due to my degree from FXUA, I will be able to work on improving logistic systems in Uzbekistan.

Today, the keys to our success and a dynamic future lie within the world of technology, and we are getting to the point where the impact of this technology will go beyond science and technology-related areas.

I pursued a bachelor’s degree in information technology from the University of Mumbai, an institute that specializes in the subject. After successfully completing my undergraduate studies, I joined the software giant Infosys as systems engineer, but I was eager to pursue a master’s degree. I started my Master of Engineering in Computer Science at Mahatma Gandhi Mission’s College of Engineering and Technology, affiliated with the University of Mumbai.  In spite of all this academic and professional experience, I realized that I had only gained an overview of all subjects related to computer science. Hence, to develop more in-depth knowledge, I needed a master’s degree in computer science with a networking specialization.

My search for a good school stopped after I had one look at the curriculum at Fairfax University of America’s School of Computer Information Systems. I wanted to avail of a world class education through the exposure to related disciplines throughout the university and across disciplinary boundaries. Here I am now pursuing a master’s degree in computer science in the School of Computer Information Systems where innovative thinking, idea generation, and independent research are encouraged. The lectures, seminars, and independent studies all test and refine my skills. The university and its distinguished faculty are serving as a guiding force for my hard work and efforts. Additionally, foreign education here gives me an open platform to showcase my skills and talents, and the ensuing exposure to the USA puts me on the path of self-discovery.

I am also working as a graduate teaching assistant in the School of Computer Information Systems and I have been awarded with the most prestigious scholarship that is the Presidents Scholarship at FXUA. It is not just the technology that changes; the professional behind it also needs to adapt and adopt innovative technologies to be an able contributor to the field. My desire has always been to strive for excellence, which would provide me the necessary guidance and opportunities to have an edge over others.
