I am proud to say that FXUA has had a positive influence on my life. At the beginning of the year, I was looking for chance to enroll in an MBA or certificate program at FXUA. I came to the University as an international student from Mongolia, not fluent in English. FXUA offered me the opportunity to enroll in English as a Second Language (ESL) courses to improve my academic writing skills. The ESL program greatly helped me to learn more about American culture and society and to build various connections at once.

One thing I like the most about FXUA is the affordable tuition rates. Students are offered flexible payment plans which are helpful for my personal finances as an international student. I also chose FXUA because of the flexibility of the course options and convenience.

I can strongly say that FXUA is a great place to study. As an international student, living far away from my home country and family, I do not always have someone to guide me through this University process, but the staff and faculty here at FXUA are outstanding. They can do so much to improve your learning, living and health environment. It makes me happy to say that FXUA has become a part of my family.

How did you choose FXUA and when did you come here?

My decision to study in the USA was made about 4 years ago when I came to the Untied States for the first time as an exchange student.  The USA has always attracted me by its diversity of cultures and tolerance towards them. People here see your personality first. I choose FXUA out of a number of institutions for several reasons: it is affordable, we are located in a beautiful suburb of Washington, DC, and the university has excellent teaching coupled with personalized study programs and individual attention.

How was your first impression studying at FXUA, in the USA? What is your favorite memory at FXUA?

The university and the city where FXUA is located are wonderful.Fairfax is a safe, quiet city with a good pace of life. Everyone here is friendly and approachable. Also, if you get tired of suburban life, Washington, DC is only 20 minutes away!  Also, you can get to New York City from Fairfax in 4 hours.

How often do you participate in FXUA activities?

FXUA is much more than lectures, study sessions and tests. Beyond the classroom walls there are innumerable activities where students get a chance to develop leadership skills and community spirit. You will always find something which suits your interests. If you can’t find it, you can set up and develop your own club or any other extracurricular activity!

What have you been learning from your peers as well as professors?

I never feel lonely at FXUA, and that is so important for me as an international student! There is no doubt that I can always count on support and encouragement from FXUA team members. It is amazing how our professors deal with student diversity. They always have time for each of us with great patience.
Being an MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) student, I am glad to study together with students from Thailand, Egypt, Vietnam, Korea, Pakistan, Turkey, and Brazil. Our experiences are so different and it is priceless that our classroom size allows everyone to share and be heard.

How many opportunities have you seen while studying and living in the USA?

FXUA is a fabulous place where students are able to discover and accomplish their dreams. I was given the opportunity to gain practical experience during my studies as an ESL instructor. I feel thankful beyond words about this opportunity. I am finally pursuing the career I’ve always wanted! I was also lucky to receive The Honors Academic Scholarship which helped me to reduce my expenses considerably.  I am thrilled to have the place and tools available to complete my goals.

What is your advice to your peers?

To all future FXUA students I would say: America is closer than you think. Be ambitious! Don’t be afraid. It is easy if you try

My teaching skills and philosophy have been so positively influenced and improved upon by combining the teaching with the graduate TESOL program at FXUA.
“I have been involved in TESOL since 1996, when I began volunteering as an ESL instructor at a church in Herndon, where I continued to volunteer for a decade. In 2006, I enrolled in the ESOL Instructor training class with Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Adult Education. Upon completion, FCPS hired me to teach literacy and low-intermediate classes in their Adult ESOL program. In 2008, I went to work for Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions tutoring students for the TOEFL examination on a one-on-one basis for 2 years. I returned to FCPS Adult ESOL Program in 2010, and currently teach high intermediate and low beginner levels of English.

Even with 15 years of experience in TESOL, I began to think of earning a master’s degree, a goal that I have held for a long time. I decided that an M.A. in TESOL would be a very valid, worthwhile goal for a sense of personal accomplishment. It would also help in securing employment. I looked online at different TESOL Programs in our area, and was very impressed with FXUA’s focus on teaching English language skills to adults. After studying the courses offered for both the TESOL graduate certificate as well as the M.A. in TESOL on the FXUA website, I felt that the program was very well-rounded and very much related to my teaching experience. I made the decision to apply in October 2010 for the M.A. in TESOL Program and was accepted. I started my graduate work in the spring 2011 semester.

All of the instructors at FXUA have been wonderful, very knowledgeable and friendly. My first class at FXUA was ‘Methods of Teaching’, taught by Dr. Marietta Bradinova, who is the nicest, most supportive teacher any student could ever ask for. I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology in May, 1970, and although I was very excited to start my studies at FXUA, I was also worried about successfully meeting the academic rigors of graduate school and navigating the world of computer usage in the classroom. Dr. Bradinova was so helpful and reassuring throughout the course, and I also met and made new friends with wonderful classmates. From the beginning, FXUA became a supportive, comfortable place for future learning and academic accomplishment. Now that I am successfully finished with the graduate TESOL certificate, I so look forward to going forward for the remaining six courses for the M.A. in TESOL.

I think that a combination of teaching ESOL and studying for a TESOL degree is the best of all possible worlds – my teaching skills and philosophy have been so positively influenced and improved upon by combining the teaching with the graduate TESOL program at FXUA. I have been very happy, and I look forward to continuing with my studies at FXUA!”

When I chose to attend Virginia international university, I was not planning on getting an MBA, but Fairfax University of America was so interesting that I decided to study for my MBA in Global Logistics. It is a fairly new Master’s degree at Fairfax University of America which I could not find in many other universities in the US.

FXUA also gives its students the opportunity to work on-campus. I was fortunate to get an on-campus job in the Marketing Department where I am gaining experience working with a great team. Also, there are many internship opportunities available through FXUA Career Center. That helps you not only get a great degree but also get excellent real-world experience while you are getting your degree.

What makes FXUA different? I have never seen a friendlier or more helpful staff like in FXUA. They deal with different cultures every day and make you feel like you are at home. FXUA is located in Fairfax, a very beautiful and peaceful city, just a short Metro ride away from Washington, DC!

I am so proud of having this great experience at FXUA. I cannot wait to obtain my MBA in Global Logistics and do my internship.  I am ready to work in my field!

I am originally from Morocco. I currently work for a retail company in Texas . I finished my MBA in International Business in December 2012. I chose FXUA because it is a hub for international students where you can gain a tacit knowledge of different cultures. FXUA has shown tremendous progress over the years. As an incoming student, I transferred my credits from a state university. However, I felt and experienced that FXUA’s small class sizes enable the student to easily grasp and understand concepts.

To me, FXUA is a place for growth, a place where you can achieve your dreams by studying hard to get your degree.

My favorite FXUA memory was last year, when the Moroccan soccer team (the Lions) won the FXUA soccer tournament! My best advice for prospective students is to try to connect with current students who are currently involved in FXUA, and contact the student services office if you have questions. My advice for current students is to stay in touch with each other; it will be invaluable to your career and give you opportunities worldwide.

I would love to see FXUA grow and open new dormitories while maintaining the same excellent quality of education. I am truly proud to be a successful FXUA alumnus.

I am an international student from Mongolia in my first year at FXUA, and, indeed, it’s been great! The teachers and faculty at FXUA are outstanding and always willing to help us. When you apply and become a student at FXUA, it’s important to attend a New Student Orientation where you can learn much more about the University and even America.

FXUA has an Academic Collaboration with the Royal Academy in Mongolia and under the 2+2 program students have transferred out from there in order to complete their degree in America at FXUA. Before my arrival, I contacted many students by using the FXUA social pages like https://www.facebook.com/goviu and was really interested in the quality of the courses. All students and especially the ones who come from Royal Academy gave me such valuable and real feedback about the university and suggested FXUA without any hesitation. The affordability, world-class professors, and location of FXUA are the best things about my university for me. Since this is my first year, I cannot wait to have the great experiences that will be waiting for me in the next academic years.

Now I am studying ESL, and I will complete a bachelor degree afterwards. I am so happy to have found my university, FXUA, and I am so blessed to get to know the many diverse cultures which make up the FXUA student body!

I’m from St. Petersburg, Russia, and I’m currently earning my MBA in Global Logistics at Fairfax University of America (FXUA). I’ve dreamed and always thought of studying in one of the leading international universities abroad, especially in the US. Before my arrival, I did some research on the internet and was attracted to FXUA right away, as it offers the most popular programs of study, a great location and affordable tuition. When I came to my university, it was a really fascinating place to study. I especially love our friendly environment – it made a strong impression on me, living far away from my family and friends. I have found such open-minded friends at FXUA and built a great network of people who come from different parts of the world. As a FXUA student, I am a witness to the strong and unparalleled American educational system, which leads the rest of the world! Everything here in the USA is truly admirable which makes me proud; students study hard, indeed, and have dreams, responsibilities, and goals; the faculty is committed to the real educational and career growth of the students.

After my graduation, I am planning to work in Atlanta, at Manhattan Associates, Inc which provides supply chain management and consulting services throughout the world. In order to be prepared as a good candidate for this globally recognized company, I’ve been preparing myself as a competitive individual who is an expert in the global market, community, and in my industry field.
