- Smartrip– You will need the card when taking buses and metros. Make sure you take one dollar bills with you, buses don’t have access to give you change.
Where to get card: Online or mail, at select CVS/pharmacy, Giant Food and Safeway stores in the region that display the SmarTrip sign, Metro Sales Offices, SmarTrip® dispensers at Metrorail stations, and regional transit stores.
Smart Trip Cards
How much does it cost: You can buy the Smartrip card for $2. Each trip costs around $1.75, which you need to charge to the Smartrip card in the bus machine. If you use the buses within 2 hours, you won’t be charged again.
