Professor John Samaha has taught Arabic language and culture for over 30 years at various academic institutions and government agencies. He received his higher education locally, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Language and Literature from George Mason University, and a Master of Science degree in Arabic Language and Linguistics from Georgetown University. In addition to teaching Arabic at the undergraduate level, he also teaches translation methodology, consecutive interpretation and sight translation at the graduate level. The University of Maryland, George Mason University, Johns Hopkins’ School of Advanced International Studies, Georgetown University, Northern Virginia Community College, and the Middle East Institute are some of the institutions that he taught at. After retiring from a previous career in the foreign language management field, Professor Samaha has been solely focusing on his lifetime passion for teaching.
