Today, the keys to our success and a dynamic future lie within the world of technology, and we are getting to the point where the impact of this technology will go beyond science and technology-related areas.

I pursued a bachelor’s degree in information technology from the University of Mumbai, an institute that specializes in the subject. After successfully completing my undergraduate studies, I joined the software giant Infosys as systems engineer, but I was eager to pursue a master’s degree. I started my Master of Engineering in Computer Science at Mahatma Gandhi Mission’s College of Engineering and Technology, affiliated with the University of Mumbai.  In spite of all this academic and professional experience, I realized that I had only gained an overview of all subjects related to computer science. Hence, to develop more in-depth knowledge, I needed a master’s degree in computer science with a networking specialization.

My search for a good school stopped after I had one look at the curriculum at Fairfax University of America’s School of Computer Information Systems. I wanted to avail of a world class education through the exposure to related disciplines throughout the university and across disciplinary boundaries. Here I am now pursuing a master’s degree in computer science in the School of Computer Information Systems where innovative thinking, idea generation, and independent research are encouraged. The lectures, seminars, and independent studies all test and refine my skills. The university and its distinguished faculty are serving as a guiding force for my hard work and efforts. Additionally, foreign education here gives me an open platform to showcase my skills and talents, and the ensuing exposure to the USA puts me on the path of self-discovery.

I am also working as a graduate teaching assistant in the School of Computer Information Systems and I have been awarded with the most prestigious scholarship that is the Presidents Scholarship at FXUA. It is not just the technology that changes; the professional behind it also needs to adapt and adopt innovative technologies to be an able contributor to the field. My desire has always been to strive for excellence, which would provide me the necessary guidance and opportunities to have an edge over others.

I chose the Computer Science program at FXUA for so many reasons: the academics, tutoring help, small class sizes, countless clubs and activities to participate in, and the career services in one place. The faculty know the students well and are very supportive and willing to answer questions regarding the program and classes. And the best part is that the program always evolves to be at the cutting edge of innovation in the technology field. Just this past year, the program offered several new high-demand specializations in networking, data management, software engineering, cybersecurity, intelligent systems, computer animation & gaming and software applications development. This is the perfect time to take advantage of these new specializations and set yourself up for success!

Having worked as a user interface designer for more than six years in a multinational company, I made the decision to further upgrade my education because I wanted to improve the skill sets that make managers effective as I progress along my career path. I am dedicated to continuous self improvement in my career and the MS in Information Systems program at Fairfax University of America is helping me to achieve that.

I am really enjoying the collaborative learning environment at FXUA. Interactions with my fellow students are thought provoking and engaging. Our tutors are all professional facilitators who are doing an excellent job in guiding us. I really enjoy the quality of the education that I am receiving as the school brings in leaders in the field for each of my courses.

Apart from this, I also have had a chance to participate in volunteer activities in different events that are held in the university and with outside organizations.  I was even awarded an appreciation letter for participating in volunteer programs.

I also have had the opportunity to work as a student support representative with the Media Department at FXUA as an assistant designer. Although it has been challenging for me to balance my studies with my job, the friendly and encouraging learning atmosphere helps to support me in my academics and also in my career goals. I have more confidence in my chosen profession than ever before.  It is an honor to learn along with such a great blend of brilliant minds from all corners of the globe.
