If I want to talk about Fairfax University of America and why it was my first choice, there are some reasons. First, the location. FXUA is located close to Washington DC that is the capital of the United States and it is close to another state. Another reason is that people living in this area are very friendly and respectful of international students and foreigners. Also, FXUA is a multicultural University and provides you to learn cultures and get familiar with different people that come from other countries. It is an honor to be here. Thank you, FXUA!

My name is Nathalia Barba. I am from Mexico. I had the opportunity to participate in a cultural exchange program in this area before deciding to study here and I fell in love with the DMV. Northern Virginia/DMV is world class diverse area that has lots to offer, from museums, culture, and history in a safe environment. Before choosing FXUA I took courses and classes in other schools and there’s no comparison with the atmosphere that FXUA has, embracing and celebrating every culture that is part of the institution. I have three main reasons why I chose FXUA:
First, location, location, location; you have DC and Arlington a 20-25 minutes drive away, NY a 4 hours road trip and Boston a 1-hour flight away. Second, the price; as an international student, your personal finance is extremely important and having the opportunity to have an affordable education is vital. The last reason is the professors; having people from all over the world teaching you, sharing their personal and professional experiences who understand your situation as an immigrant is priceless, professors in FXUA really care about the relationship they develop with their students, becoming your mentors/friends to help and support you succeed.
In this globalized economy, the chance of learning and experiencing other cultures from your classmates and professors helps you to have the advantage to work on any industry. My MBA is going to help to reach my professional goals and develop and grow my own business. Thank you, FXUA!

I came to the United States for pursuing my master’s degree at Fairfax University of America. I have taken three semesters of ESL class before starting my master’s program and my English has been significantly improved since I first joined.
Fairfax University of America provides great facility and environment for the students where we have access to the library, computer rooms, and cafeteria on campus. You are not only studying but also enjoying the opportunity of learning other cultures and making friends with students from different countries. In addition, the faculty and staff is really supportive and collaborative to fulfill all the requests and concerns. The instructors are amazing that they support and work on each student by providing a detailed learning strategy that could fit them.

It is with great pleasure that I write about my university. FXUA gives a good opportunity for every student who has a dream and to achieve their goals. It is open for all international students, and you will learn all different cultures in one place. The faculty was very supportive and helpful to me throughout my educational journey.
I learned a lot from FXUA during my studying for the last two years, it is not just about academic classes, but also about being open-minded and establishing vision into life. I started studying from ESL, and I improved my English language skills and academic writing. It was helpful when I started my MBA. Furthermore, the FXUA community gave me a good chance to work on campus and to get an on-campus employment scholarship.

I first joined FXUA in Spring of 2018 semester as an international student in the School of Public and International Affairs and I became a student staff (library assistant) in May 2018. The diversity at FXUA makes everyone contribute in their own unique experiences, that makes a much richer learning environment. I daily encounter brilliant students, great team-mates who care about one another and perform with excellence and fair treatment. I am enjoying my time here at FXUA, I know a lot of wonderful people, I am working hard, and feel like I am making an impact. The work and learning environment give you the opportunity to have an idea and see it come to fruition – you really see that you are making a difference.
I have to mention that FXUA is a stress-free environment. The different departments are dedicated to helping students grow academically. The staff is knowledgeable and well versed with corresponding fields. All the events, workshops, open discussions I have taken part in were very insightful. I woke up every morning excited to come to FXUA, which is not the norm for many people in the workforce today I would say. I truly appreciate the atmosphere here in FXUA; I am exposed to various cultures and I pick up new skills each time I participate in an extra-curricular activity. My name is Oumar and I’m from The Gambia. For me, what makes FXUA special is its people. From the amazing diverse staff who empathize well with student needs, to the dynamic student community enthused by their pursuit of quality education. Not only I am earning my degree, but I am engaging with individuals from all over the world, and gaining insight into their outlooks.
The combination of cultural awareness with academic accomplishment feels like a completely full learning experience unique to this environment. After I finished my Bachelor’s degree from Thailand. I decided to come to the US and pursued my Master’s Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management because my home country is well known in terms of the tourism industry. I was looking for an affordable and accredited University provided that major in Washington DC area and FXUA is a great fit for me.
My experience at FXUA was unforgettable. As an international student studied abroad for the first time, it made me feel overwhelmed at first but my classmates and FXUA’s staffs helped me get through it. I spent time outside the class with my classmates and we all had fun exploring the Northern Virginia area.
